Report: Sberbank CEO says Nginx case belongs not to criminal field

MOSCOW, Dec 16 (PRIME) -- A dispute about web service Nginx should not be settled as a criminal case, but in arbitration, Forbes reported late on December 13 quoting Russia’s top lender Sberbank CEO German Gref as saying.

“I don’t like that it’s a criminal process. I think that an arbitration court should hear such cases,” Gref said.

Media earlier reported that a Moscow office of Nginx had been searched under a criminal case opened on suspicion of violation of the author’s rights. The service was designed in early 2000s by Igor Sysoyev, media holding Rambler’s former employee. Sysoyev together with another Rambler employee, Maxim Konovalov, established Nginx in 2011. U.S. firm F5 Networks acquired the business in spring for U.S. $670 million.

Sberbank became an owner of 46.5% of Rambler in August.

According to Forbes, Sberbank’s First Deputy Chairperson Lev Khasis said Rambler’s board of directors would meet on Monday or Tuesday without Gref’s participation.
